Fixed fee services confirmed by the Legal Services Board to be cheaper than hourly rates

The Legal Services Board has conducted a survey of over 1,500 firms across England and Wales, and found that fixed fee services consistently offer better value for clients

For example, in conveyancing transactions, fixed fee estimates were, on average, around 12% lower than cost estimates based on hourly rates.

Additionally, firms that charge fixed fees are far less likely to exceed their original estimate, where 48% of firms offering conveyancing on an hourly rate reported that costs were occasionally higher than expected.
